Today’s Employee Spotlight is on Marina Kensinger, the Senior Commercial Estimator at Florida Fence. Marina is at the top of our pack in our Bid department, handling all proposals, estimates, and developer-related questions. She is also a Registered Specialty Contractor, can do a mean Latin dance, is fluent in German, and can converse in at least three other languages. Marina is known as the “pup whisperer” here at the office. My nemesis, 8-month-old puppy True, is constantly fawning over her, as can be seen by the picture above. I’m above all that fawning. I let humans come to me.

Marina, please tell us a little about your professional life prior to coming to Florida Fence. What packs did you run with? Where was your first kennel?

I was born in Germany and lived there until I was about 30.  While working in the US military, I traveled worldwide, including in war zones such as Desert Storm and Desert Shield.  Ten years of logistics in the military is pretty good training. I also owned a nightclub in Germany and ran a dance studio for years.

I am a staunch supporter of all things bone related.  What causes are close to your heart?

I operate a Bread Ministry that provides food for the homeless and others in need.  I support work in addressing the issues of teen pregnancy, human trafficking, and domestic violence.  I am tireless in my support of causes in which I believe.

Ummm – you didn’t mention any dogs, but ok, moving on ?… do you like agility courses?  Digging holes? Catching frisbees with all four paws off the ground? In other words, what are your favorite pastimes?

I enjoy dancing, sewing, knitting, crocheting, remodeling homes, and refurbishing furniture. I also love gardening.

Tell us something about yourself that would surprise us, or that we couldn’t tell by sniffing you.

I am pretty much an open book, but you might not know I have parachuted out of planes.  I am also a pretty good shot with a gun.

What three words would the rest of your litter use to describe you?

Compassionate, loyal, and very people- smart.  I can read people pretty quickly.

If you could have any superpower, what would it be?  (I always identified with Underdog, but the cape wouldn’t work really well with my short – scratch that-  “vertically challenged” legs.)

I would love to be able to go invisible – just so that I can do things for other people and they wouldn’t know where it is coming from.  I kind of do that now, but sometimes people are able to track me down.

If you could take one book to a desert island, and it couldn’t be one from Cesar Milan, what book would it be, and why?

The Bible, because it holds basic instructions before leaving earth.

Do you have a motto or personal mantra?

Do unto others, or love thy neighbor.

What makes your tail wag most?  When are you your absolute happiest?

Being with my children and my grandchildren, or gardening.  I also love playing with my two puppies. So I guess you could say, either interacting with family or not interacting with anybody! Those are my peaceful, happy places.
